Description
Cactus Jack was born on the streets of Chelem Mexico. A road we call the Lonely Road where you’ll find hundreds of dogs trying to survive. Cactus was approx 3 months old when we found him in the Cactus (which provided his name) protecting himself from any danger coming his way. He lost his pack and wasn’t doing well on his own. Sadly he wasn’t expected to survive much more than a couple of days in the condition he was found. At only 2.8kg he could barely hold himself up. We fostered Cactus while we were in Mexico. In one month the before and after was astonishing. A little love goes a long way. We brought him back to Canada. First we helped him gain trust and confidence in us and confidence in himself. He didn’t know how to puppy. Well, he certainly does now as he’s been educated by his older brother Wally who he adores. Cactus can entertain himself and anyone watching him play with his toy of choice as he tosses, pounces on them, cuddles with them and patronizes his brother Wally with them.
As a rescue my main priority was to help Cactus gain confidence with himself, people and other dogs which we have successfully done. Now I’ve been working on obedience and tricks.
He has a small repertoire of tricks: sit, lay down, stay, go to mat, go in his crate, spin and twirl, shake a paw, recall, 2 paws up and off. He is eager to learn.
